To provide marketing support to the artisans of Rajasthan, an eight-day exhibition titled "The Shilpangan" opened in New Delhi.
Rural Non Farm Development Agency (RUDA), Government of Rajasthan and Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Government of India have jointly organised an exquisite exhibition of the handicrafts of Rajasthan at Shilpi Haat, Rajiv Gandhi Handicrafts Bhawan (2nd Floor), Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Dr. C.P. Joshi inaugurated the exhibition here yesterday.
Dr Ahmed Salem Ali Wahishi, League of Arab State Mission,. Wassfi Hassan El Sreihin, Secretary General, Af-Asian Rural Development Organization, Montserrat Feixas Vihe, UNHCR Chief and Dr. Janice Drabari, Consul General of Montenegro were the guests of honor.
The minister and the guests of honor had interaction with the participant artisans and appreciated their crafts. The exhibition is being organised with Pink City theme during the food festival period.
Chairperson and Managing Director, RUDA Nilima Jauhari informed that the exhibition has been organised for providing marketing support to the artisans of Rajasthan.
"This would provide an opportunity to the participant artisans to directly interact with the metro customers. The residents of Delhi will get a chance to purchase the genuine craft products at reasonable rates direct from the artisans," she said.
In the exhibition, more than fifty crafts of Rajasthan including bagru hand block printed fabrics, tie and dye sarees and dress material, blue pottery, lac bangles, marble artefacts, Rajasthan dolls, wooden artefacts, leather mojaris, meenakari items, molela terracotta, leather bags, phad paintings of Bhilwara have been showcased.
The exhibition will remain open till February 16. (ANI)
