The Delhi Police on Saturday filed chargesheet in the double-murder case of liquor baron Ponty Chadha and his brother, Hardeep Chadha, before the designated court at Saket here.
The lawyers appearing for both the prosecution and defence of accused mentioned that the charge sheet runs into around 1800 pages.
"Today the chargesheet in the case has been filed, which is consisting of about 1800 pages and the next date is now 19th of this month for the scrutiny of the documents and for the appearance of the accused," said K. K. Mann, advocate for the prosecution.
S. S. Namdhari, the sacked Chairman of Uttarakhand Minorities Commission, and his personal security officer (PSO), Sachin Tyagi, are also among those accused in the case.
Meanwhile, the defence counsel mentioned that the chargesheet would be perused and then challenged in the court when discrepancies are found.
"We will go through the chargesheet, observe the CD and photographs that the prosecution has provided us. If we find any discrepancies in the documents, we will definitely file an application for the scrutiny of documents on the day of the next hearing," said Vinod Gupta, defence counsel.
The accused have been charged under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) as well as Section 120B. Besides these, the prosecution has also charged the accused under Arms Act.
