The Bharatiya Janata Party has become the first party since 1980 to clinch over 300 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections. In a massive endorsement for Prime Minister Modi, the party secured about 40% of the vote share and swept back to power 15 years after Rajnath Singh stepped down as CM on March 8, 2002.
Party President Amit Shah congratulated the party workers, Prime Minister Modi and state president Keshav Prasad Maurya, possibly the next Chief Minister, for securing an over two-thirds majority in India's most populous state. For Party supporters, it was an early Holi.
