Noor Fatima: Queen of Hearts
A fragile, little girl and her battle for life achieved what five decades of peace initiatives could not. For a while, Noor Fatima replaced weapons and loose-talk as the most potent symbol of Indo-Pak relations. Noor came to India on the Lahore-Delhi bus on July 15 for a cardiac surgery. She ended her crossborder journey with a mended heart, and proof that people-to-people bonds between India and Pakistan remain strong, despite a 56-year rivalry over Kashmir. AFP
