End of an era
With the death of thespian Rajkumar, Karnataka lost one of its illustrious sons. Starring in over 200 films, all of them in Kannada, Rajkumar epitomised good values, ethics, Kannada culture and patriotism. However, he never tried to do an MGR or NTR and stayed away from politics.
Sadly, the reaction of his frenzied fans was quite opposite to the good image of `Annavru`, as he is fondly called. They resorted to burning vehicles and stone pelting, forcing an undeclared bandh on Bangalore. The Karnataka government, in failing to handle the situation, drew criticism of denying Karnataka`s worthy son a decent funeral.
