Iran fights back
The whole world was expecting it and the IAEA did not disappoint—it reported Iran to the United Nations Security Council because it felt that Tehran`s nuclear programme might not be for peaceful purposes. The referral could mean possible economic and political sanctions against Iran.
But so far Iran has had the last word. Under orders of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, it ended voluntary cooperation with the IAEA, stated it will resume uranium enrichment and asked the UN watchdog to remove all surveillance cameras and agency seals from its sites and nuclear equipment. The IAEA meekly did so on Sunday.
