Five romantic destinations in India

  - Lakshmi Sharath

Romance doesn’t need a season or a reason. However with spring in the air, the trees are blushing, the flowers are in bloom and nature seems to be in a mood to celebrate. A nip is still in the air and the mist fades in and fades out of the trees. If you are in a mood to travel and keep the romance fresh in your life, here are five destinations you could look at

Karwar, Karnataka

Perched somewhere in the Western Ghats, along the coast of Arabian Sea, on the banks of the River Kali, Karwar lies nonchalantly, unaware of its own beauty.

Gazing at the blue green waters, the island would transform even a dullard into a poet. Dotted with several islands, the coastal town had inspired none other than Rabindranath Tagore to pen his Prakritir Pratishodh.

The confluence of the rivers, the moonlight night when he went rowing solo promoted him to write his ode to Karwar. He says - "The sea beach of Karwar is certainly a fit place in which to realise that beauty of nature is not a mirage of imagination, but reflects the joy of the infinite and thus draws us to lose ourselves into it."

You can either get yourself into a frenzy and try your hand at adventure and water sports here or just walk on the beach or sail along the waters looking for dolphins.

Holiday Tip - Take a ferry in the sunset and sail along the coast of million islands dotting the sea

Place to stay - The Devbagh beach resort in the island of Devbagh
