New Delhi, Dec 11 (IANS) Two contract killings were reported in 2011 and two in 2012 in Delhi but the exact source of weapons used in the crime could not be ascertained, the government said Tuesday.
Minister of State for Home M. Ramachandran was answering a question in the Lok Sabha on whether cases of contract killings were on the rise in the national capital.
While there was no contract killing in 2009 and 2010, he said, the next two years reported a total of four cases.
While four suspects were held in 2011, seven were taken into custody in 2012, he said in a written statement.
The minister said authorities were taking preventive measures by deploying sources, collecting intelligence, looking for illegal weapons, checking vehicles and intensifying patrolling.
