Get softer, healthier skin

Psoriasis (soo-ri-aye-sis) is a chronic skin condition and auto-immune disorder where the body mounts an immune assault against itself. A normal skin cell takes 28 days to mature and is shed from the body unnoticed, but a psoriatic cell takes only 3 to 4 days to mature and quickly moves up, leading to a pile-up at the surface.

It results in patches of thick red skin that are covered with silvery scales. These patches are called plaques. Even though there are no other telltale signs, this flushed appearance of the skin could become slightly embarrassing.

In some cases mild itching is also experienced. Mostly common on elbows, knees, the head, lower back, palms and soles, in severe cases it can also affect the nails and joints leading to psoriatic arthritis. Psoriasis is more common in women in the age group 15 to 35. Globally, 1 in 50 people are known to be affected with this condition.
