Panaji, June 28 (IBNS) The Goa Church on Thurday requested Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to retain the government jobs to 230 candidates offered during the then Congress rule in the state mines and geology department.

Council for Social Justice and Peace (CSJP) said they analyzed each of these cases and found that the recruitment process was followed.

"On pursuing through the facts presented to us, it becomes apparent that the due process of recruitment was followed and the candidates have satisfied the requirements," CJSP Executive Secretary Fr Maverick Fernandes said in a written communique' to Parrikar.

"Therefore, it cannot be understood as to why the Government has prevented them from joining duty without any written intimation citing reasons for the same," the letter further reads.

Fr Fernandes brought to the notice of the chief minister that several candidates are the only bread earner of their respective families.

"This becomes a human issue as it amounts to a denial of a sustainable livelihood for no fault of theirs," he said.

The Vigilance department is currently probing into the "hurried jobs" doled out to several hundred candidates in various government sectors by the former Congress government.

The youths were recruited days before March 3 assembly elections with BJP alleging 'jobs-for-votes' scam. On being voted to power, Parrikar ordered vigilance inquiry in all the jobs.
