He really, really needs some confidence
In May, 2008 when the BJP got a majority and formed the Karnataka government for the first time many people felt it was the edge of a new era.
As it turned out, not only was CM Yeddvurappa on an edge, he was also heading down it head first.
Almost weekly, ‘Yeddy’ has been battered by scandals, bullied by the powerful Reddy brothers (who are in his own party!), natural disasters like droughts and floods and last but not least give a through explanation of his love life.
One gets the feeling that he probably has slept very little in the two and half years since he came to power. Indeed he seems to have slept in his own bed even less since the most popular sign of political trouble in Karnataka was the mysterious disappearance of it’s CM during such times.
It has all come to head with a demand for a confidence vote, to be held on October 11. Yeddy seems rather confident that his crumbling party will come through for him though. After all, for a man as religious as he is – how can his faith be anything but strong.
