Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Public Account Committee (PAC) chairman Murli Manohar Joshi on Friday rubbished all the charges levelled by former CAG official R P Singh and said it a government's conspiracy to disintegrate constitutional institutions like CAG and PAC.

Reacting to the allegations of influencing CAG officials and meeting them at his residence on a holiday, Joshi said: "The government wants to cover-up all the misdeeds and corrupts practices, which have been highlighted by these institutions."

"It appears to be the part of that campaign which is intended to malign the two important institutions, which are watchdogs of the government's misdeeds about financial handlings, about misappropriation of money and about wrong implementations of schemes," said Joshi.

R P Singh, Former Director General, Post and Telecommunication at Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has alleged PAC Chairman Murli Manohar Joshi of influencing CAG officials and meeting them on a holiday to help him prepare the panel's report on the 2G-spectrum allocation.

R P Singh has said that the loss figure of Rs 1.76 lakh crore mentioned in the report was presumptive and had been restored in the final report, despite having been deleted by him in the draft report. (ANI)
