Guwahati: Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare on Thursday said that the Indian government was making policies to help foreign companies, sidelining the interests of its citizens.
Addressing a national conclave organised by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) for the issue of illegal immigration, land rights, anti-corruption and dam construction held in Guwahati, the veteran activist said that, India has not received "real independence".
"The government is making policy to help the foreign companies and inviting them into to the country," Hazare said.
Hazare accused to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh-led union government of having misled the people of India on the decision to implement FDI in retail.
"The government should have made policies for development of the farmers, people of India, but it has not, so we have to get ready for a second freedom struggle," the anti-corruption leader said.
Hazare said that, without development in its villages, India as country cannot progress.
