Guwahati: Amar Jyoti Kalita, a key accused in the mob molestation of a teenaged girl in Guwahati on the night of July 9, has been seen in Kolkata, media reports said on Monday.
However, no much details of his whereabouts in Kolkata is known yet.
Earlier Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had said that Kalita was seen in Mumbai.
Kalita is one of the main accused as captured in the video of that night when the girl was assaulted and pawed by several men after she emerged out of a night joint.
Kalita was in a cap and red T-shirt in the video and he was also found in the social networking site of Facebook.
The police have arrested 12 people in connection with the case so far but Kalita still eluded the Assam police.
The victim, a 17-year-old class XI student was molested by a mob of as many as 20 men after she purportedly got into a scuffle outside a pub in Guwahati.
Video clips of a nearly 30-minute-long ordeal that showed the girl being abused and molested by the mob were shown on local television channels and uploaded on the Internet sparking a national outcry.
