Baba Ramdev on Sunday took a jibe at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the ruling Congress government over the declining value of rupee against the dollar, and said that Manmohan Singh is begging the international community for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
While addressing a protest rally at Jantar Mantar he said: "The ruling Congress party is so ignorant that they did not listen to anything we said and this is the reason that the rupee has declined to such a level where we have to pay 67 rupees for one dollar. For electoral gains they have eaten into exchequers' money by introducing false welfare schemes and our helpless Prime Minister is begging the international community for FDI which no one is willing to give."
He further dubbed Manmohan Singh as a robot for saying that he would he happy to work for the Congress party under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
"The Prime Minister says that Rahul Gandhi is an ideal choice for the future prime minister of the country and he would work under him during his governance. Such carefree and callous attitude has not been seen in any prime minister of the country so far who works like a robot," he added.
Singh on Saturday said Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi would be an ideal choice for the Prime Minister's post after the 2014 general elections, and added that he would be happy to work for the party under his leadership.
"I will be very happy to see Rahul step into my shoes... I have always believed Rahul is fit enough to be a leader of the UPA - that is not a question of any speculation," said Dr. Singh, while expressing confidence that the UPA will get a third term.
Earlier this year, Rahul Gandhi was elevated to the number two position in the Congress Party after being appointed its vice-president. (ANI)
