India, Bangladesh ink three MoUs to promote bilateral trade and cultural relations

India and Bangladesh on Saturday signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to promote bilateral trade and cultural relation and to encourage people to people contact between both the countries.

MoU on Akhaura- Agartala Rail Link, MoU on establishment of India-Bangladesh Foundation and MoU on double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion were signed by External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and his Bangladeshi counterpart Dr. Dupi Moni.

Khurshid arrived here today morning on a two-day official visit to Bangladesh.

He will co-chair the second meeting of the India-Bangladesh Joint Consultative Commission (JCC) along with his Bangladeshi counterpart.

The JCC was constituted under the Framework Agreement on Cooperation for Development signed during the visit of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to Bangladesh in September 2011.

During his visit, Khurshid is scheduled to call on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and meet the Home Minister and the Minister for Water Resources of Bangladesh.

He is also expected to call on the Leader of Opposition, Begum Khaleda Zia. (ANI)
