Indian student killings abroad open debate on racism again

Two separate cases of murder of Indian students -- one was shot dead in Canada, while the other in UK -- have opened the issue of racial attacks faced by Indian students living abroad again.

Both students -- Alok Gupta, 27, and Anuj Bidve, 23 -- had no previous history of violence or crime.

The body of Alok Gupta, the Indian student killed in Canada on December 25, arrived at his hometown in Panchkula on Tuesday. His parents suspect "foul play" in the murder.

Gupta's father, Harish Bhai Gupta, who said his son did not have any enemies, feared the killing was racially motivated.
