Indo-American doc held on rape charge

Mumbai: An Indian American doctor was arrested by Mumbai police on Tuesday for allegedly raping a woman patient and friend way back in May 2008 based on a complaint lodged by the victim, media reports said.

Vikram Dravid, who has been remanded in police custody, has been charged with rape by the 38-year-old married woman, also a US national of Indian origin, who alleged she was sedated by the doctor in his residence and then raped over four years ago.

The two know each other since 2001, reports said.

The victim alleged that Dravid boasted of possessing some supernatural power and assured her of a cure, but took advantage and raped her.
