The international kite festival in Vadodara, Gujarat, lured scores of kite flyers from across the world.

This year 100 kite enthusiasts from 40 countries are battling to outdo each other.

Dutch kite-flyer Michael said: "This is my seventh visit to the Gujarat International Kite festival and this is my 10th visit to India. I like India, its nice audience here, good winds, and nice temperature so I have fun."

Vietnamese kite flyer Lily said: "This is the first time, I have come to India. I am Vietnamese, I think this is very good. I think the winds are not very strong today for flying kites. In Vietnam, the wind is stronger and that is good for kite flying."

"People from different countries are here in the city for the festival. It was our Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, who has organized this festival on such a large scale. Locals also participate in the festival and enjoy themselves," said Bharat Dantar, a local politician.

The organizers said a three-day workshop would also be organised to train people in the art of kite flying.

The popular festival spelled magic for the tourism industry in the state, as many visitors from abroad as well as from India gathered at the place.

Various pavilions for adventure sports, food and craft bazaars were also put up at the venue.

Kite fliers from eleven countries, including Ukraine, Switzerland, Indonesia, Belgium, UK, Lebanon, Lithunia, Italy, South Korea, and Turkistan participated in the festival. (ANI)
