Hyderabad: The Telangana political Joint Action Committee (JAC), that spearheads the pro-Telangana agitation, on Thursday announced its agitational programmes beginning with a call for shut down of educational institutions on Friday.
"We are calling for a boycott of educational institutions tomorrow in protest against the lathi-charge and lobbing of tear gas shells in Osmania University today. Police unnecessarily interefered and indulged in lathi-charge," JAC Convener M Kodandaram told reporters.
He was speaking after a meeting of the JAC at the residence of TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao.
The JAC also urged the government employees in Telangana to take out lunch-hour protest rallies demanding that the Centre introduce a bill for formation of separate Telanagana in the budget session of Parliament and also to protest the police action in the Osmania University.
The JAC called for demonstrations in front of district Collector's offices on January 10 and road blockades on January 17.
