
A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here on Wednesday convicted former Haryana Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal President Om Prakash Chautala and his son Ajay Chautala in the Junior Basic Trained (JBT) teachers recruitment scam.
The court also convicted 53 others in connection with the illegal recruitment of more than 3000 JBT teachers in Haryana.
Chautala and others have been taken into custody.
The court will pronounce the quantum of the sentence in the case on Jan 22.
The court has framed charges against the accused under sections 467 (forgery), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA), reports said.
Pertinently, six accused, out of the total 62 accused, died during the trial.
The court has discharged one of the accused while framing charges.
