A separatist-sponsored strike to protest the death of a teenager in police firing disrupted normal life in the Kashmir valley on Monday even as curfew-like situation prevailed in the city with security forces strictly imposing prohibitory orders.
Life in the valley came to a standstill as shops and business markets, educational institutions and semi-government offices remained closed in response to a call given by both factions of Hurriyat Conference against what they called "systematic killing of innocent youths".
