Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 4 (IANS) The Kerala government is treading cautiously in the case of arraigned veteran Communist Party of India-Marxist leader V.S. Achuthanandan, an accused in a land scam case.

The state vigilance has already arraigned Achuthanandan as the prime accused in the land scam case involving his relative.

"We are in no hurry to conclude on this issue and we will look into all opinions before the state government decides on this case," Kerala Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan told reporters here Tuesday.

Meanwhile, sources close to the government points out that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is in favour of seeking the opinion of the Kerala governor also in this issue before any proceeding begins against Achuthanandan.

The government knows that any hurry to settle political scores could turn counter- productive given the status and stature of former chief minister Achuthanandan.

The director general of prosecution (DGP) informed Kerala High Court Nov 20 that Achuthanandan has been arraigned as the prime accused in a land scam case involving his relative and the chargesheet will be filed soon.

T. Asaf Ali informed the court that it's just a matter of time before the filing of the chargesheet in which Achuthanandan has been named as the prime accused along with four others including the then revenue minister and Communist Party of India leader K.P. Rajendran.

It was in June last year that the Chandy government ordered a vigilance probe after examining all the files related to the land transfer to T.K. Soman - a relative of Achuthanandan.

The cabinet also decided to cancel the land allotment at Kasargod district involving Soman, a former defence official.

The alleged land transfer took place at the fag-end of Achuthanandan's tenure as chief minister in early 2011.
