Kochi: Kochi is on high alert following intelligence reports that terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) may attack the city, reports said on Saturday.
According to reports, Union Home Secretary GK Pillai on Friday told Kochi Police Commissioner Manoj Abraham about the terror threat."Based on intelligence inputs we have issued an alert," Pillai reportedly said.
Security along the coast, the airport, the Jewish Syangogue at Mattancherry and St Francis Church at Fort Kochi have been stepped up.
However, according to police, this is only a routine alert, but security has been stepped up nevertheless.
On Monday, the Centre had issued a terror alert for Kolkata, Mumbai and Bangalore. The alert came after revelations by arrested Indian Mujahideen member, Salman.
