The Americans slayed another monster - Osama bin Laden – they created last month.

It's funny how they back dictators and radical elements when it suits them and after a few years declare them Enemy No. 1. While most are accusing Pakistan of playing a double game, no-one does it better than the Americans.

A look at just a few of their varied and many creations and subsequent efforts to fight them...

The gift of LSD and the fight against drugs...

Yes, it may sound pretty strange, but LSD is the CIA's gift to the world. While Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann first synthesized LSD in 1938, it remained on the fringes till the 1950s.

Project MKULTRA was a human research programme run illegally by the CIA in the 1950s. LSD was administered to many test subjects and resulted in at least one death. After that it escaped into the mainstream and became part of the America's drugs, sex and rock n roll revolution of the 1960s.

Of course, now many prominent US personalities and celebrities are fighting vigorously against the problem of drug addiction. Awareness is also high in the US, but some genies once they have been taken out of the bottle cannot be put back in.
