Former PM IK Gujral very critical, say doctors
The condition of former prime minister Inder Kumar Gujral is "very critical", doctors said on Monday.
Gujral, 93, was admitted to the Medicity Medanta Hospital here with a lung infection on Nov 19, and is still on the ventilator.
"He is very critical, medicines are not showing much effect, good wishes can help him better," a senior medical consultant, who did not wish to be named, said.

BJP issues notice to Jethmalani asking why he should not be expelled
Moving a step forward on his suspension, BJP on Monday issued a show-cause notice to its Rajya Sabha MP Ram Jethmalani asking him to explain why he should not be expelled from the party for "anti-party" activities and indiscipline.
"The Parliamentary Board confirmed the decision of national president Nitin Gadkari to immediately suspend Ram Jethmalani for his indiscipline and anti-party activities. He has also been issued a notice on why he should not be expelled from the party for six years," BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar told reporters after the meeting.

No proof of UFOs on India-China border: Antony
Defence Minister A.K. Antony Monday told parliament that India was monitoring all developments in the neighbourhood which could impinge on national security and made it clear that there was no conclusive proof of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) over the border with China.
Antony was replying to a question in the Lok Sabha as to whether the Army's Leh−headquartered 14 Corps had reported about mysterious UFOs flying over the India−China border during the last three years.
"Required measures have been initiated through development of infrastructure and operational capabilities to achieve desired levels of defence preparedness to safeguard the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of India," Antony assured the house.
A Delhi Court on Saturday sent Namdhari to five-day police custody in connection with the shootout that killed Ponty and Hardeep.
The Delhi Police told the court that the small-time BJP leader was the main conspirator in the shootout at Chattarpur farmhouse in south Delhi on Nov 17.
The police has booked him under murder charges.
The police told the court that Namdhari had shot at Hardeep during the shootout.
Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, an officer of Indian Army and deputed to the National Security Guards (NSG) a crack commando outfit, died fighting the militants at Mumbai during the attacks.

26/11 case: Pak sends terms of reference for visit of 2nd Judicial Commission
Pakistan has sent the terms of reference for visit of the second Judicial Commission to India to cross-examine key witnesses in the Mumbai attack case to speed up the prosecution of seven Pakistani suspects in that country.
Without giving details of communication, official sources said the terms of reference were received recently and have been sent to legal experts for their opinion.
Pakistan had requested for a visit of the second Commission as a trial court there had rejected the findings of the earlier judicial commission that visited Mumbai in March.
US Under Secretary for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman has said that LeT operative David Coleman Headley's extradition to India is under consideration. Sherman met
External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid this morning.
A ruling in the matter is expected soon, said Sherman.
The all party meeting on FDI in retail ends. The government has asked the opposition parties to reconsider their stand on voting.
Meanwhile the Trinamool Congress has said that the Speaker of the house must take a final call on the debate on FDI. The party has asked that the opposition move another no confidence motion against the government.
Reports indicate that the BSP is willing to back the government on FDI in retail but it expects the quota bill to be passed first.
The BJP, JDU and the left are demanding a debate on FDI under rule 184 which would entail voting.
A bomb has been found under the car of senior Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir reports Geo TV. At least half a kilo of explosive material has been recovered.
This could possibly be an attempt on his life.
Mir is known for his critical views on Pakistan's Judiciary, Military and some extremist elements.
'Sonia should retract her statement against BJP'
In wake of former CAG official R P Singh claiming his comments on PAC chairman Murli Manohar Joshi on the 2G issue were misquoted, BJP today asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi to retract her statement in which she had attacked the main Opposition party.
"In light of what R P Singh has stated, the BJP would like to know from Sonia Gandhiji would she retract her comment almost condemning the BJP in the most abusive terms," BJP chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters outside Parliament here.

Congress leaders are meeting the Samajwadi Party over the logjam in Parliament over FDI on retail. Parliamentary Affairs minister Kamal Nath is meeting the SP's Ram Gopal Yadav.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has called for a meeting before the all party meeting on FDI set to take place today. Cabinet ministers including Sushil Kumar Shinde, Kamal Nath and P Chidambaram are a part of the meeting.
The lower house of the parliament has been adjourned for the day as well.
The Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till tomorrow. Meanwhile motions are being adopted in the Lok Sabha despite the din being created over FDI.
Meanwhile the coordination committee of the UPA is set to meet over FDI tomorrow.
The Lok Sabha reconvenes and the MPs march on to the well of the house and start raising slogans against FDI in retail. Things are no different in the upper house.
Meanwhile the proceedings at the Uttar Pradesh assembly are not faring any better than at the national parliament. BSP MLAs are protesting against Akilesh's government's perceived failure to maintain the law and order situation in the state.
SC asks chief ministers of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to meet to find an amicable solution to the Cauvery water dispute. 'We want you to meet in a congenial manner to find out a solution for the problem in the interests of farmers of both the states.' said the top court.

A memorial has been erected for late Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan in Bangalore. Major UnniKrishnan has lost his life during Opernation Black Tornado during the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai. He was awarded the Ashoka Chakra for his act of bravery.
The victims and martyrs of the 26/11 terror attack on Mumbai were remembered at an event organised to mark the fourth anniversary of the attack.
Maharashtra governor K Sankaranarayanan, chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Maharashtra home minister RR Patil and Mumbai police commissioner Satyapal Singh and several others paid floral tributes to those killed by the terrorists at a commemorative function held at Mumbai Police Gymkhana at Chowpatty on Monday morning, said reports.
A 26/11 memorial has been erected at the Gymkhana.
Security has been tightened across the city for the fourth anniversary of the attacks that comes close on the heels of the hanging of Ajmal Amir Kasab, the only terrorist who was caught alive.
On Sunday, a peace march was held in Mumbai.
A total of 166 people died and around 300 were injured in the 2008 attack.

The Maharashtra government has begun a commemoration ceremony for the 26/11 heroes at the Police Gymkhana, Mumbai. Home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan are present.
UN's special envoy to the Middle East has urged Hamas to abide by the Egyptian−brokered ceasefire with Israel for the interest of people in the Gaza Strip, Xinhua reported.
"Our message today to the Hamas leadership is also to abide by its commitment to stop all hostilities, including rocket attacks and attacks along the border," said Robert Serry Sunday. "This would be an important step for Hamas towards becoming a partner of peace."
The UN envoy also called on Israel to abide by the understandings of the ceasefire, which was reached last Wednesday and ended eight days of Israeli air strikes in Gaza and rocket attacks into Israel.
Serry, who visited Gaza for hours, urged Israel to "exercise utmost restraint."
The Israeli aerial offensive killed 168 Palestinians, while six Israelis were killed by Palestinian rocket fire.
The US and most of European countries deem Hamas a terrorist organisation for refusing to recognise Israel.
