Abu Dhabi, Jan 19 (IANS/WAM) A majority of people in the UAE - 82 percent - make the same "eco-friendly decision" to turn off their air conditioning when leaving home, a poll has found.

The poll conducted by Abu Dhabi Media for Eco Future questioned 880 people, all readers of the English and Arabic versions of the and Al websites.

Eco Future is an interactive exhibition that engages visitors with some of the most important issues facing humans today, including global resources, healthy living, climate change and other options for a sustainable future.

The Emirates Wildlife Society in association with the WWF (EWS-WWF) is trying to raise awareness about reducing energy and water consumption.

It is encouraging people to lower the temperature of their washing machines, not to over-fill the kettle to make hot drinks, and to install energy-saving light bulbs in the home as ways to help lower the environmental and economic costs of day-to-day living.
