West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been admitted to the Belle View Clinic here after landing from Delhi this evening.

Banerjee complained of restlessness, breathlessness and pain, after being hackled by the SFI supporters in the national capital yesterday.

Banerjee, who cancelled her scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram and left from New Delhi earlier in the day, said that the national capital 'is not safe.'

"I am going back and we will look into the matter over there. I thank you all as you have helped me a lot. I will come again but Delhi is not safe. I am sorry," she said.

Alleging that the police did not co-operate her, Banerjee said: "I think this is the first time such a thing has happened in New Delhi. I was also manhandled like anything. I requested the police to open the doors but they said that they don't have the keys."

Banerjee also apologised to the Prime Minister for cancelling her meeting with him.

"I just want to say one thing that I had an appointment with Prime Minister, which I could not attend. I apologise for that. He also told me that Mamataji what happened, I apologise to you. It should not have happened. I feel for the first time such an incident has occurred in Delhi," she said.

Banerjee accused the CPI-M of trying to tarnish the image of her party.

"After 35 years, there should have been a bloodbath. I am there that's why, total peaceful, and CPM (Communist Party of India-Marxist), sometimes they use our flags also to create some drama and all. Don't trust them. One side they will kill the people and then they will say we condemn it. It is their double standard game always, they are hypocrites," she said.

Banerjee and her state's Finance Minister Amit Mitra were heckled outside the Planning Commission office in the national capital by the SFI activists protesting a young comrade's death in Kolkata allegedly in police custody.

Dozens of protestors from the SFI waited for the TMC leaders outside the Planning Commission office and raised slogans against Banerjee when Banerjee came with Mitra and other ministers to meet the commission's Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia.

Mitra, who was attacked by the protesters, has been in a hospital in Delhi since last night. (ANI)
