Chandraswami

Chandraswami could well be called the godman-in-chief. His connections ranged from former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao to international arms dealer Adnan Kashoggi. His name was also drawn into the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case over his alleged links with LTTE chief V Pirapaharan.

Chronology of St Kitts case

Though numerous cases were filed against him, Chandraswami had an uncanny ability to emerge unscathed. He was acquitted in the high profile St Kitts and the Lakhubhai Pathak cases, while the Multi-Disciplinary Monitoring Agency, set up in 1998, is still probing his alleged role in the Rajiv assassination.

However, Chandraswami’s days of glory came to an end with the emergence of new political equations. During his heydays, Chandraswami always remained a media darling, through his killer quotes. And the height of it being his claim that he invoked Lord Ganesha to perform the milk-drinking miracle as a warning against those in power.
