Metrological department predicts end of unusual weather patterns

The metrological department on Sunday put an end to the public speculation on the recent weather patterns in the country, particularly in the northern region.

M. Duraisami, Director of the Metrological Department of India, told to reporters that forecast suggests that weather would improve in the capital and several other parts of north India.

"In an overall scenario this scenario will last till tomorrow morning. Right now the intensity will decrease and it will remain a little cloudy, there might be light rainfall in the plains and light snowfall in the hills, but all of this will only last till tomorrow morning and will clear out after that," said Duraisami.

The unexpected rainfall that has persisted since February 14, has led to a gradual decline in the temperature on February 16, which was recorded as 16 degrees.

The metrological department insists that temperatures will rise by 2-3 degrees by Monday February 18 whereas hilly areas will witness snowfall till February 22.

The sudden change of weather came as a surprise to the locals.

Several states in the northern regions of the country saw this unusual weather including heavy rainfall.

Officials maintain that these weather patterns will fluctuate but should settle down by Monday. (ANI)
