Michelle Obama 'favorite' for Illinois Senate seat if were to run for elections: Poll

First Lady Michelle Obama GOP can unseat GOP incumbent Sen. Mark Kirk in her home state of Illinois, if she were to run for elections, a new poll has showed.

According to the Public Policy Polling survey, the First Lady's popularity rating also tops her husband Barack Obama's in Illinois.

The First Lady's approval rating stands at 60 percent, compared with 57 percent for Obama, the New York Daily News reports.

According to the poll, she would have an edge over Illinois Sen. Mark Kirk if she was to challenge him in 2016 for his Senate seat, in a hypothetical matchup with 51 percent to his 40 percent.

The poll also found that the she enjoys stellar approval ratings, with 60 percent of voters saying they have a favorable opinion of the First Lady, compared with 33 percent who have an unfavorable view, the report said.

Meanwhile, Kirk's numbers are weaker: 34 percent approve of his job performance compared with 19 percent who disapprove, the report added. (ANI)
