Nellore: A seven-year-old boy, purportedly working as a bonded labourer, was allegedly tortured to death by his employer at a dhaba (roadside restaurant) in Andhra Pradesh, police said today.
The victim had been working at the dhaba in Chilkur mandal of the district for the past three months since his father Subba Rao had borrowed a loan from the dhaba owner Y Murali Krishna Reddy who is on the run since the incident on Sunday, they said.
Police have taken into custody Murli's father Venkata Narsa Reddy and a search is on to trace Murali.
According to police, Venkata Reddy had informed about the boy's death to his father on Sunday night saying he had died after a dinner at the dhaba.
However, the body of the boy bore multiple injuries, police said quoting the complainant.
Gudur DSP K Suresh Kumar today said two teams were dispatched to Nellore and Hyderabad to nab Murali who is suspected to have fled to either of the two places.
Following a complaint by the boy's father, police have registered a case of murder against Murali.
