New Delhi, April 2 (IANS) A Delhi court Tuesday allowed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to interrogate suspected Hizbul Mujahideen militant Sayyed Liyaqat Shah in Tihar Jail, where he is lodged.

District Judge I.S. Mehta allowed the plea of the NIA seeking permission to interrogate Shah in the jail till April 30.

The court said: "I have perused the application. The same is allowed."

Chief investigating officer of the NIA along with his team was allowed to interrogate Shah in jail till April 30, the court said.

The court March 30 sent Shah to judicial custody till April 12, after police said they did not want to interrogate him further.

Shah, a resident of Dardpora village in Kashmir's Kupwara district, was arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur March 20 when he entered India through Sunauli border check-post of Kathmandu where he had flown in from Karachi.

The home ministry March 28 asked the NIA to probe the case.

Delhi Police booked Shah for waging war against the country claiming he was planning to carry out terror attacks in the national capital to avenge the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
