Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan has been hailed as the scientist who brought `magic` to the Indian Space Program. Kasturirangan is presently the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and ex-officio secretary to the federal government the Department of Space. The eminent space scientist and astrophysicist has been honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shree awards. ISRO put the country`s most prestigious Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle into orbit and the successfull flight testing of the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle occurred under Kasturirangan`s stewardship.
