The 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Game officially came to a close Thursday, October 14. Much to the pleasant surprise of all, the Games went off reasonably smoothly.
No one was crippled for life by an 'exotic Indian' disease, no stadium crumbled to dust at the first sign of a breeze and no event was marred by a terrorist attack.
The Organisers failed us. But the athletes came through in spades - winning India a record 101 medals and second place on the overall score board.
Kudos is also in order for the thousands of security personnel and volunteers who were especially praised. The opening ceremony was mindblowing and though nitpickers will have their say, the closing ceremony was also fine.
And so finally, we can all put this happy chapter behind us with a smile on our faces.
Except Suresh Kalmadi, who might take a little longer to recover from being booed by 60,000 spectators. Twice!
