Creating more troubles for Kingfisher Airlines Ltd chairman Vijay Mallya, a Hyderabad court on Friday issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against the liquor baron and his airline company in connection to a cheques bounce case filed by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL).

The case is connected to bouncing of cheques worth Rs 10.3 crore that were issued by the cash-strapped Kingfisher Airlines to airport builders GMR as Hyderabad airport charges.

The GMR reportedly moved the Nampally Criminal Court in Hyderabad and filed a case against Kingfisher Airlines after the cheques issued to them bounced.

Pertinently, the GMR manages Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

The private carrier had reportedly issued four cheques worth Rs. 10.3 crore as airport charges.

The court's order came at a time when the operations of the private carrier are under suspension since Sept 30 due to strike by its employees.

Amid the escalating crisis, the private carrier last week extended the partial lock-out till Oct 12.

The employees of the Kingfisher Airlines have often been striking time and again over the issue of non-payment of salaries this year.

Kingfisher reported a loss of Rs. 1,151.50 crore in the March quarter.

It has a debt of over Rs 7,500 crore and accumulated losses which is almost equal.

Kingfisher Airlines has neither been able to pay salaries regularly since February nor has it managed to pay its dues to oil companies and airports, media reports said.
