In a bizarre campaign by the North Korean government to control Western influences, 18 official hairstyles have been sanctioned for women and 10 for men, in keeping with the dictates of the conformist country.
According to the campaign, married women will have to sport a short hairstyle among the 18 set styles, whereas men must keep their hair shorter than five centimeters, in the 10 official styles and have it cut every 15 days, Daily Mail reports.
However, the campaign will allow unmarried women to sport plaits, braids or wear a ribbon in their hair, while adhering to the set hairstyles, whereas older men will be allowed to grow their hair up to seven centimeters before they must make a trip to the barbers for a trim.
North Korean women generally wear a straight hairstyle with a traditional dress, but choose a perm or a wavy hairstyle with western clothes, the report added. (ANI)
