United States President Barack Obama may be relocated to a new Oval Office, in preparation for a major, two-year renovation of the West Wing of the White House, according to a report.

The US government has undertaken to complete a new executive office for the President at the south end of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB), adjacent to the West Wing, according to RealClearPolitics (RCP), Politico reports.

The report added that the new office, which will be an exact reproduction of the original Oval Office, is slated to be ready for occupancy later this year if Obama is ready to move and if design challenges are resolved.

According to sources, construction of the new office has already begun, but unexpected problems in construction may change the plans for the eventual placement of the new office in the EEOB.

Adding that the move is not unexpected, RCP stated that former US president Herbert Hoover relocated to a another place during repairs to the White House in 1929 and presidents Nixon and Johnson mainly used offices across the street and the Oval for formal meetings only. (ANI)
