President Barack Obama's chief speech writer, who helped write nearly every major address since the Democrat became a senator in 2005, is potentially eyeing a new career in Hollywood.

According to the LA Times, [Jon] Favreau plans to stay in Washington for a while, but he has often told friends that he wants to pursue screenwriting, as Obama's former speechwriter Jon Lovett, the co-creator of the new comedy '1600 Penn', did.

Obama advisor David Plouffe said that Favreau's time in the White House should serve him well, Politico reports.

He added that Favreau can write comedy, history, drama, suspense, and he's got the whole range'.

Speechwriter Cody Keenan will take over the lead role at the White House.

As the Times notes, Keenan is known for handling tragedies and heartbreak, the report said.

He was the lead writer of the president's remarks following the mass shooting in Tucson that left six dead and at least a dozen wounded, including former Republican Gabby Giffords, it added. (ANI)
