Operation Lalgarh: State swings into action

Operation resumes

T
he Lalgarh operation to drive out the Maoists resumed since morning from Bhimpur area. The 300 CRPF men and 100 district riot police began their march from Pirakata at 4pm yesterday. The troops   had advanced 8km to Bhimpur - almost halfway to Lalgarh - by 6.30 pm. 

Central forces smash human shield

When dusk fell the forces decided to push back 2 kms and halt for the night by the roadside at Koima. The police had to face two more human walls which they cleared with tear gas shells and lathis. A small crowd which blocked the road in Bhimpur was driven away easily.
