New Delhi: Both houses of the Parliament were adjourned for the day on Monday as the Opposition continued to create uproarious scenes over the issue of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail.
Both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha were adjourned shortly after noon over the uproar.
They were earlier adjourned in the morning till noon over the issue while the upper house (RS) also witnessed uproar over the SC/ST quota.
Earlier the government has called an all-party meeting on Monday to break the logjam in Parliament.
The Parliament has not been able to function since the beginning of the Winter Session last week because of sustained protests by the Opposition in both Houses over FDI in multi-brand retail.
The Opposition demands a vote on the issue under rule 184, which entails voting. The government is opposed to it.
Reports citing sources said at the Monday meeting, the government may agree to the voting if it was sure of a win.
