In choosing a dog for the family, it is recommended to keep children and their behavior in mind. Not all the breeds of dogs are friendly and tolerant of children. However there are many breeds of dogs that one can choose from, specially keeping children in mind. Do your homework to see which one works the best with your family and children.
By far, the Number 1 dog breed for children hands down, would have to be Labrador Retriever.
This dog is well-accepted because of its good nature as it is generally not very aggressive or hyper. Labradors are playful, easy-going, intelligent and patient and hence click with children. Because of its mild manner, it is the first choice in working with the handicapped too. The Labrador is also a great pick if you have other animals as they are very accommodating too. A well-taken-care-of Labrador can live up to 13 years. However these dogs need to be kept active and love playing or taking walks.
