Even before the first vote is cast, several political leaders have come under the Election Commission scanner. Many prominent leaders have been served notice by the poll panel for violation of model code of conduct.
The Commission issued a notice to RJD supremo Lalu Prasad for violating the model code following the landing of his chopper in a school compound instead of a helipad at Garwah in Jharkhand.
The Garwah district administration lodged an FIR and the Railways Minister was arrested on Tuesday (April 14). He was released the same day.
Earlier, the Election Commission had served a notice on him for his alleged comments at an election rally that he would have crushed Varun Gandhi, detained under the National Security Act, under a "roller without caring for consequences" for his anti-Muslim remarks.
