The Prince of Wales has spoken of his 'constant worry' over Prince Harry serving in Afghanistan, as he praised the "fortitude and relentless courage" of British troops there.

In a Christmas message to the British military personnel abroad, the Prince said he knew what families on the 'home front' were going through as they 'deeply missed' loved ones.

He said that with two sons currently serving in the Armed Forces, one of whom is in Afghanistan he really do have at least some understanding of what their loved ones on the 'home front' are going through, the report said.

Prince Harry, an Apache helicopter co-pilot gunner serving with the Army Air Corps, has been stationed at Camp Bastion since September, the Telegraph reports.

The Prince of Wales also joked that his son could write home more frequently after having received a "very rare and precious letter in answer to mine!"

The Christmas message was recorded at St James's Palace last week and broadcast on the British Forces Broadcasting Service.

In it, the Prince paid tribute to British troops all over the world and in particular in Afghanistan.

He thanked the servicemen and women for their relentless courage and said the nation owed them 'an everlasting debt of gratitude', the report added. (ANI)
