New Delhi, Feb 21 (IANS) A flash mob attacked at least 12 factories here Thursday on the final day of the two-day nationwide strike called by major trade unions, police said.
Hundreds, raising slogans against the government's economic policies, suddenly attacked the garment factories in the Okhla Industrial Area in south Delhi. Police have detained six people from the spot.
"The situation is now under control," Additional Commissioner of Police Ajay Chaudhary told IANS.
Around 300 police personnel have been deployed in the area. Policemen also marched in the area till late in the evening.
A small factory owner, Amit Vidhuri said: "The policemen deployed here ran away when the stone pelting started in the morning. They later, however, came with more policemen to control the situation."
During stone throwing a few vehicles were also damaged, he said.
Police have collected footage of CCTV (close circuit television) cameras installed outside the factories.
