Chennai, Jan 21 (IANS) Director-turned-producer Madan feels the title of a film is also an important part of promotion because usually quirky title attracts audience to the cinemas.
Some of the upcoming Telugu films with quirky titles include "D for Dopidi", "Athanu Hardware Aame Software" and "Chamak Challo".
In fact, Madan too has titled his upcoming Telugu movie as "Coffee With My Wife".
"Titles have become a very important part of a film's promotion nowadays. Quirky titles excite audience right from the day the name of a film is announced. That is why title has become very important because it helps in keeping the buzz around a film alive," Madan told IANS.
Known for making Telugu films, he feels that if a film releases eight months after its announcement, "then buzz around the film is likely to die if it's not promoted at regular intervals. One of the ways to promote is by having a quirky title that would keep the audience bemused."
"Coffee With My Wife" stars Aneesh Tejeswar and Sindhu Loknath and Madan says that it is important that the title should have direct link to the story, or viewers will feel cheated.
"Our film does have a quirky title but at the same time does justice to the plot. You can't fool audience with a title that has no relation to the story of the film because eventually they have to pay and watch it," he said.
He also feels titles are like film teasers.
"Titles can be compared to the teasers of movies. As trailers motivate audience to come to the cinemas, titles too have an effect on the viewers but eventually it all boils down to the content," said Madan.
