Thane (Maharashtra), Oct 13 (IANS) Hundreds of schoolchildren Saturday took out a protest march from a mosque here to condemn the attack on teenaged Pakistani peace campaigner Malala Yousufzai, who has been shot and critically injured by the Taliban.

The students, mostly girls, held placards with a message "I am Malala" to express their solidarity with the activist who was shot at by the Taliban when she was returning home from school.

Led by Nationalist Congress Party legislator Jitendra Awhad, the protest march started from a mosque in Thane to the local railway station around two-km away.

Malala was shot and seriously injured in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwest Pakistan Tuesday when she was returning home from school.

Taliban claimed responsibility for the shooting that also injured two other girls and has sparked outrage across the world and Pakistan and condemnation from world leaders.

She is not yet out of danger and has been shifted to a hospital in Rawalpindi.
