Rio de Janeiro, Feb 24 (IANS) Santos coach Muricy Ramalho said he understood Pele's criticism over star striker Neymar.
Last week Pele labelled Neymar an "ordinary player" for Brazil's national team, adding the 21-year-old needed to be more of a team player and focus less on his public image, reports Xinhua.
"What we have to realise is that we are talking about the best athlete of the century who has the experience that can help anyone to improve. When he talks, he does it for peoples' benefit and not for his own vested interests," Ramalho said Saturday.
While Ramalho denied Neymar's alleged individualistic tendencies, he said the forward had defects in other areas.
"His weakness is his participation in build-up play and it's something we have been working on for a long time," Ramalho said.
