Resignations spark Karna BJP crisis

Bangalore, Jan 23 (IBNS) While the BJP elected a new president in Rajnath Singh on Wednesday overcoming uncertainty over outgoing president Nitin Gadkari's re-election, another crisis loomed large over the outfit in Karnataka with resignations of two ministers who left the government to join the party of BS Yeddyurappa.

Karnataka Rural Development Minister Shobha Karandlaje and Public Works Minister Udaisi reportedly tendered their resignations to Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar.


They are joining former BJP leader and state chief minister BS Yeddyurappa´s newly launched Karnataka Janata Party.

According to media reports, more state lawmakers are on way to step down and join Yeddyurappa.

Chief Minister Shettar, however, ruled out a crisis and said he would present the state budget on Feb 8.
