SAARC: End of hostilities?

Optimism is running high on the eve of the SAARC summit in Pakistan, after foreign ministers from the seven nations agreed on a free trade pact, terrorism and a social charter, paving the way for their signing by the region`s heads of state.

Hopes are high that both India and Pakistan will use the summit for their first meeting, albeit informal, since coming close to war for most of 2002 following an attack on India`s Parliament. AFP
